How to enter

All people who purchase a raffle ticket or tickets go into the draw for a chance to win one eleven prizes.

Tickets can be purchased at the event by available electronic payment methods. 

  • Individual tickets are sold at $10.00 AUD.
  • Five tickets can be purchased for $40.000 AUD.
  • Ten tickets can be purchased for $70.00 AUD.

Conditions of entry

This raffle is an initiative of StartSpace powered by State Library Victoria, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne, Vic, 3000 (‘Library’).

Entry into the raffle means you accept these terms and conditions.

To enter, you must have purchased your raffle ticket(s) and placed them into the raffle draw boxes provided at the StartSpace Celebrates event on Wednesday 4 December between 4:30pm-6:45pm held within State Library Victoria.

When you purchase raffle tickets you must provide your name and mobile phone number on the ticket before you enter it into the raffle draw box to ensure you can be contacted should you win a prize.

To be awarded a prize, entrants will be drawn at random from the raffle draw boxes in person at the event.

You do not have to be in attendance at the live raffle prize draw to be awarded a prize. 

If you raffle ticket is selected, your name and raffle ticket number will be called out during the raffle draw at 6:45pm and will be recorded by the StartSpace team.

All raffle prize winners will have up to 5:00pm on Friday 6 December to confirm your acceptance of the prize if you are not present at the time of the draw.

If you are not present at the draw and your ticket is drawn the StartSpace team will make every effort to contact you through multiple attempts based on the phone number you provide on Thursday 5 December and Friday 6 December to confirm your prize. 

If you are uncontactable, do not receive the call or message and do not return  the call to confirm the acceptance of your prize by 5:00pm on Friday 6 December the StartSpace team reserves the right to select another raffle ticket from the draw and award the prize to another ticket holder.

Employees of State Library Victoria and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

The StartSpace Lead’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered.

No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of prizes.

No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries.

All entries become the property of the Library.
Any personal information entrants provide will be treated as confidential and managed in accordance with the Library’s Privacy policy.

The Library reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without notice.

Dates
The competition commences on Wednesday 4 December at 4:30pm and will conclude at 6:45pm AEST.

Prize draw and notification

The prizes will be drawn at random from the raffle tickets supplied in the raffle draw boxes in StartSpace at State Library Victoria on Wednesday 4 December 2024 at approximately 6:45pm.

The winner will be notified either in-person if they are in attendance at the event when the prizes are drawn, or by phone if a phone number is provided on their raffle ticket. 

If, despite reasonable efforts by the Library, a potential prize winner does not respond to the Library by 5:00pm Friday 6 December, the prize(s) will be forfeited, and the Library reserves the right to select a new winner.

If a winner cannot be contacted due to providing incorrect details, the Library reserves the right to select a new winner.

There are eleven prizes on offer in the StartSpace Celebrates Raffle. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

StartSpace Loft 1- month free access) and the inclusion of those links in these terms does not constitute an endorsement or a recommendation of that site. All of the prizes are subject to the following terms:

All prizes in the StartSpace Celebrates Raffle must be redeemed by 30 June 2025.

All prizes might also be subject to additional terms and conditions as imposed by their relevant organsiations as provider of the prize, including period of validity and expiry, or any booking or redemption time frames.

If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Library reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to law.

No alternative prize (including cash) will be considered or provided.

The prize will be forfeited if not taken ‘as is’ and no payment or compensation will be made in lieu.

The Library may ask you to provide proof of your age, identity and residency, and to sign any required documentation including release forms as a condition of claiming the prize.

You are responsible for all expenses and taxes connected to your participation in the promotion and not included in the Prize.

If any of these terms and conditions are deemed illegal or unenforceable, then the removal of any illegal or unenforceable part will not affect the remaining terms and conditions.

Other terms

The Library and agencies or companies associated with this promotion are not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with a prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

The Library and their associated agencies and companies are not liable for (including any costs) any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, network failures, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries, and any cause beyond the control of the Library, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions generally affects your rights under Australian consumer law (as contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and equivalent State and Territory fair trading legislation) regarding consumer guarantees to the extent that such consumer guarantees cannot be excluded by law.

Other than these consumer guarantees State Library Victoria makes no warranties about any prizes offered as a part of the promotion, including warranties as to the quality, merchantability or fitness for purpose of such prizes.

You agree to indemnify the Library against all liabilities suffered or sustained by the Library arising from any claim by a third party that your entry infringes the rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party.

Severability

Any provision (or part thereof) of these Terms and Conditions that is prohibited or unenforceable in any jurisdiction is ineffective as to that jurisdiction to the extent of the prohibition or unenforceability. That does not invalidate the remaining provisions (or parts thereof) of these Terms and Conditions nor affect the validity or enforceability of that provision (or part thereof) in any other jurisdiction.

Entire agreement

These Terms and Conditions contain the entire agreement between you and the Library with respect to the raffle prize draw promotion. They set out the only conduct that you have relied on and supersede all earlier conduct and prior agreements and understandings between you and the Library in connection with the promotion.
