Business Book Chat with Tess McCabe

Graphic design is an essential tool to help bring your brand, product or service to life, yet it can be difficult to get it right. This is where Tess McCabe, Graphic Design professional and author of Graphic Design Speak: Tips, Advice and Jargon Defined for Non-Graphic Designers comes in.

In her latest book, a must read for anyone who is working with a design or creative professional, or trying the DIY approach, Tess breaks down the design process, terminology, priorities and pitfalls.

Join us online over lunchtime on Tuesday 24 August from 1.00pm for the next Business Book Chats event, where StartSpace Events Producer Ingrid Josephine will interview Tess about the book and the best practical tips to take-away for your next design project.

During the chat, Tess will be sharing:

  • important things to consider when it comes to the design process;
  • common graphic design technology and terminology;
  • how to make the most of working with a design professional; and
  • what a successful design outcome looks like.

This event will provide helpful advice for anyone with a current or future design project on the go, especially if you are thinking about branding for your new business venture.

This event will be broadcast on YouTube. All registered ticketholders will receive a viewing link via email prior to the event date.

Date: Tuesday 24 August
Time: 1.00pm – 1.30pm

About Tess

Tess McCabe is a Melbourne-based independent graphic designer specialising in branding, website design and book design. Some days, she can hardly believe that her passion — helping people achieve their business goals through smart and good-looking design — is an actual job.

Many of the skills and experience Tess brings to client projects have been developed through the various side projects she has initiated over her career, including director and president of not-for-profit association Creative Women’s Circle, and co-host of The New Normal Podcast. Creative Minds is Tess’ vehicle for publishing books and resources targeted at creatives and small business owners. Her most recent book, Graphic Design Speak — was a finalist in the Australian Business Book Awards (2020) and is available at bookstores around Australia.
